Are you interested in learning how to write, shoot, direct, and edit movies? Check out the winter film school from the Binning Foundation! It goes from January 26th - April 22, Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30, and is open to all 6th-8th graders. There is a $25 fee for the program.

Game night is coming! This Friday, 10/10, from 5:30 - 8:00. We'll be playing board games, Wii games, and Dance Dance Revolution--computers will be available as well. We recently added Rock Band to our Wii collection, so come take a turn on the drums, guitar, or microphone. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Hi all! My name is Mark, and I’m the new teen librarian at the Bemis Public Library. There are some great upcoming teen events to put on your calendar. I purchased Rock Band for our Wii system and we’ll be playing that and Carnival Games at the next Wii date, Sept. 18 @ 3:30. Teen Read Week is also coming in October, 10/12 – 10/18. We’ll be having a book swap where you can trade in books (and other stuff) and earn chances to win a $30 gift certificate to AMC theaters. There will also be a battle of the bands contest on 10/16 @ 3:30, on the Wii Rock Band game, where prizes can also be won. Come check out the fun!

Bemis has finally purchased a Wii gaming system! Believe me, I have been looking for one for quite a while. The system will be unveiled during our Spring Game Night on April 25, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Please come and join us for pizza, board games, computer games, and of course, the Wii!

Bemis will host three babysitting classes during the Summer of 2008. This one-day program is focused on those between the ages of 11-17. Topics covered include: responsible play, picking up and holding children, feeding, emergency procedures, identifying appropriate toys, and hygiene (handwashing). The class is held at Bemis Public Library from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Class size is limited to 12 participants and they fill up fast! The cost for the class is $59 and registration is done by calling the Red Cross directly at 303-722-7474

Registration for the great collaborative effort between the Binning Family Foundation and Bemis Public Library will begin on Tuesday, May 27. You will need to come to the library to fill out the registration form for the 8 week program. Film school will begin on June 3, and will be held from Tuesday through Thursday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Cost for this program is $50 and scholarships are available. The Summer Film School is held at the Binning Family Foundation, 1269 W. Littleton Blvd. Program is limited to 40 participants from 6th grade up to 12th grade. The theme for the 2008 Summer Film School is "Read and Renew the Earth".

We have reorganized the Naruto Club to an Anime Club. The first meeting of the new Anime Club will be April 5th at 12:00 (noon) We will pick the movie to watch from the library's growing anime collection. Come and join us for anime, food, and games.
